The History Ireland magazine and website is a source that I would highly recommend and that is suitable for both the scholar and the general reader. It has been publishing since the spring of 1993 and has published a lot of material from the best and brightest historians at a national and international level.
I have been a follower of the magazine for several years now and can say that each issue of History Ireland covers a wide variety of topics, from the earliest times to the present day, in an effort to give the reader a sense of the distant past but also to offer a fashionable edge. Each article is well explained and is illustrated with maps, paintings and photographs that deliver an intense impression of the topic.
It is a resource that I would recommend any teacher to consider researching or browsing topics that are been thought in the classroom. Furthermore I would definitely recommend it for any teacher of a TY group who may be fresh out of ideas on an interesting topic to teach. No need to look any further that the History Ireland magazine or website.
